You can ship up to 70 lbs in each box. Shipping zones are irrelevant because it is a flat rate to anywhere in the US. USPS Priority mail offers the simplest way to ship small packages. By now almost everyone has heard the phrase “if it fits it ships”. The boxes come in 4 different shapes and sizes at three different price points.

Anything that fits in it will ship anywhere in the US. Small Flat rate boxes are actually quite small. The dimension are 8 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ x 1 5/8″. It is comparable in size to a VHS cassette. If you don’t know or remember the days of VCRs go ask your older brother or a parent to explain how big a VHS tape is. With a starting price of $4.95 it doesn’t really matter how small the box is.

This box would be great for widgets. The USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box comes in two sizes. The first size is (11″ x 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″) and is shaped like the large flat rate box. It is a little shorter and a little narrower. The USPS rate starts at just $10.70.

Priced the same as the first box the second size for the medium flat rate box is 11 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ x 13 5/8″. It is shaped more like a rectangle than a traditional cubed box. The advantages of this one come from its length. Anything that is too long for the other two boxes may fit well in this box. Medium flat rate boxes are great for any company who is looking to reduce shipping costs and wants a variety of sizes.

Ship online and you will get USPS Discounts that are not available at the post office.

The USPS Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box is 12 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ x 6″. This is obviously the largest box and can hold the most merchandise. This box is great for eBay shippers, care packages, and multiple other applications. If you need to ship heavy items that fit into this box and can fill it to the brim you are looking at spending $14.50 through the Post Office.

Most shippers do not need to be concerned with the weight restriction. The weight restriction for all of the USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes is 70Lbs. Reaching that weight is probably a challenge unless you are shipping solid lead.

It is the same price to ship from NY to NJ as it is to ship from NY to Hawaii. Perhaps the greatest advantage does not come from packing as much as you can in the flat rate box, but from not needing to worry about zones. The USPS priority rates do not change from one shipping zone to the next.

Priority Flat rate Boxes have great benefits. The only two differences are that you will have your own personal customer care representative to help you with your account. Imagine having a person to call and talk too immediately about your post office shipment.
