Housefull – Illusion Or Reality?
So, Sajid Khan has announced his arrival with his latest film Housefull that is scheduled to release in April. His last one was Heyy Babyy which proved to be a blockbuster hit for him even though it was his first tryst as a director. Sajid is again coming back with the same team of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani. He appears to be quite a superstitious person when it comes to casting in his films.
Akshay Kumar took a risk 3 years ago when he trusted the script thrown to him by a person who was widely known as a comedian and a TV anchor. This person was none other than Sajid Khan who was a neophyte in film making business and Akshay's was on a all time high. So it was definitely a high risk to accept the role in a comedy coupled with typical Bollywood melodrama. The scene has changed this time round with Akshay desperate for a hit movie after having quite a few debacles in the last year. On the contrary Sajid Khan's film Housefull is an eagerly awaited film of the year that boasts of an ensemble cast in Bollywood.
The film has Akshay playing the lead role as Aarush (same name as in Heyy Babyy) and he is having three wives played by Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan. This is a unique tragedy in his life and to save himself from the wrath of his wives he speaks one lie after another in the film. The chaos multiplies after the arrival of characters of Riteish and Arjun Rampal in the film. The film appears to be an out and out comedy from the director that may also give a sassy moral life lesson to the viewer.
The storyline looks to be funny but the audience knows what to expect from Akshay Kumar in comedy segment. He attempted something of this sort with Garam Masala few years back, but the three women were not wives, they were his girlfriends. After all he has given quite a few comedies in the decade that went by and most of the comedies were slapstick and monotonous in nature barring a few ones like Hera Pheri. His antics in comedies are pleasing and are accepted by multiplex audience as well as single screen audience but the charm seems to be fading now which was proved in the preceding year.
Sajid is a dear friend to Akshay and has his own sense when it comes to film making but there seems to be no guarantee when it comes to tasting success at the box office. It may be too early for us to predict the outcome of this extravaganza but Sajid has gone on to say that this will be the biggest hit of the year and no film will be able to surpass Housefull in its collection. These words appear to be outlandish from him but we may be wrong here as the people who have seen his venture agree with his vision. At this point we can only wish him luck for and hope that the film opens with the board Housefull in cinemas.
